Muhlaysia Booker

Muhlaysia Booker

“You are beautiful.

You are wonderful.

You are a caring person.

You are very cute.

You are very sweet.

You are a loving person.

But

You become prey for those animals.

You became prey to those male chauvinists.

You became prey to those female chauvinists.

You become prey to the patriarchic society.

You become prey to matriarchic society.

You become prey, even in civilizational violence.

You become prey even in civilized society.

Even civilized society can’t protect us.

Perhaps your struggles as a black and proud person are historical.

Perhaps your struggles as a dark and transgender person are unforgettable.

You are a historical figure.

You are a historical figure in our proud black community.

Some may try to erase your history from their histories.

But as long as our pride is alive, you are alive in their history of oppression.

You are alive in our historical struggles against oppression as long as our black pride is alive.

You are alive in our historical struggles against racism as long as our black pride is alive.

As long as our black pride is alive, you are alive in our historical struggles against gender oppression.

You are alive in our historical struggles against transgender oppression as long as our black pride is alive.

As long as our black pride is alive, you are alive in our historical struggles against man-made poverty.

You are alive in our historical struggles against white supremacy as long as our black pride is alive.

You are history.

History tells the truth.

Not all history tells the truth.

But our proud history tells the truth about your death.

Your fight for formal equality

Your fight against racism

Your fight against male chauvinism

Your fight against female chauvinism

Your fight against gender oppression

Your fight against taboos

Your fight against poverty

Your search for identity

Your humanitarian efforts

Your thrust for human equality

Your push for racial equality

Your push for rationality

Your thrust into science

Your ambitions

Your goals

Your dreams

Your proudness

Your courage

We will carry you.

We will carry our proud flag.

We will carry your identity.

We will carry your humanity.

We will carry your identity.

We will carry your democracy.

We will carry your radical social change ideology.

You are loved from across time and space.

My love, may you rest in peace.

May God bless you, my love.

May God protect you from male and female chauvinists in Heaven, Amen.”
