Slavery, or the Gulamgiri 1873 Book of Jothiba Phule -Dr.Suryaraju
Mattimalla
Slavery, or Gulamgiri, was written by Jothiba Phule and
published in the Marathi language in 1873 in the Indian state of Maharashtra
during the colonial period. Phule belongs to the Shudra caste, the fourth or
agriculture caste of the Hindu order. I belong to the last and untouchable
caste, Madiga. The Brahmin, or the beloved child of the white western world,
Pundit, has divided people into vertical caste hierarchies through which people
have been divided into pure and impure human beings. The fourth caste is also
not allowed to participate in many Hindutva rituals, but their status is not
equal to that of the untouchable castes.
The so-called fourth or Shudra caste is also known for
notorious atrocities against untouchable castes in the Indian sub-continent.
However, Phule, who was a Shudra, fought against Brahmins, not against Hinduism
or the Hindu religion, with the personal experience and humiliation of Brahmin
friends. He was always in the company of his Brahmin friends. He even adopted a
son from the Brahmin caste. He or his wife were also like any present Shudra
(Reddy, Kapu, Velama, Kamma, Gouda, etc.) caste who were die-hard fans of
Brahmins and their companies.
The so-called “Mahatma” Jothibha Phule had adopted a
so-called orphan boy from the Brahmin caste and was hailed as a social reformer
of the Indian social order. The fact is that he was also highly Brahmanized
like any Shudra, farmer caste, or peasant caste. The farmer castes are
foot-soldiers of the Brahmins to implement unbearable atrocities like violence,
caste order, untouchability, genocide, rape, the Devadasi system, Hindu
religious purity and impurities, lynching, killing, social boycott, etc.
against the most vulnerable untouchable castes.
The mainstream Brahmin scholars, theorists, and
activists, including western and Indian scholars (Rosalind O'Hanlon, Gail
Omvedt, Gopal Guru, etc.), have elevated Phule by taking the slogan of
"Dalit-Bahujan ideology". The Dalit-Bahujan ideology is very much
manipulated by the touchable castes of India. There is no Dalit Bhujan as such.
The Bahujans are the people who are known for their notorious atrocities
against untouchables in India. In India, Bahujans are Nazis but materialized
Mahars, Malas, and Madigas carry the manipulated Dalit-Bahujan ideology under
the leadership of Shudras.
Shudras or Bahujan ideologues are Nazis to cover the
everyday atrocities committed by them by their Shudra caste. Shudra's criticism
of Brahmins or Hinduism is an integral part of social corruption. Do not
believe any Shudra critique or touchable castes or Brahmin radicals who have
dark-skin and white marks or, in the words of Gopal Guru, Janus faces. The
Shudra Janus faces danger like any Brahmin Janus faces.
The Caste-based slavery has a long history of 6000
years, but Shudras are not victims of this slavery. The victims of caste-based
slavery have been the untouchable castes. However, just as Gandhi faced
humiliation from a white train conductor on South African rail, some Shudra
individuals may have faced humiliation at the hands of Brahmins, Rajus, or
Vaishyas, but individual humiliations never broke the deep-rooted caste-based
slavery or genocide.
Gandhi was a notorious casteist, racist, pure-soul,
vegetarian, and spiritual person who stopped the process of attaining human status
for untouchable castes during the colonial period. Phule was another figure who
manipulated untouchables, but his project of so-called modernity was not to
liberate any untouchables but Shudras to sanskritize. The Shudra castes during
colonial rule used different language to show that they were champions of
untouchables or women, but it is another mask of white on brown skin. Why did
Phule adopt a Brahmin kid when millions of untouchables were orphans? Why
doesn’t Phule never comment on his Shudra castes, who were killers and rapists
of untouchables? Why did not Phule fight against the Hindu religion? Reject any
Shudra, Brahmin, or Mahar who is associated with Hindutva or Neo-Buddhism.
These tags will never liberate you from the clutches of caste-based slavery.
Phule has dedicated his slavery to
“DEDICATED TO
THE GOOD PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES AS A TOKEN OF ADMIRATION FOR THEIR SUBLIME
DISINTERESTED AND SELF-SACRIFICING DEVOTION in the cause of Negro Slavery; and
with an earnest desire, that my countrymen may take their noble example as
their guide in the emancipation of their Shudra Brethren from the trammels of
Brahmin thraldom. THE AUTHOR”
Let me conclude by discussing the status of untouchable
castes in India on June 2, 2022.
“Death
Every meeting place
At least let us speak for the
voiceless.
Let us speak for the speechless.
Let us fight oppression.
Let us fight humiliation.
Let us fight corruption.
Let us fight lies.

Millions are born without human
status.
Millions die without human status.
Millions of people are striving for
human status.
I am one of them.
I never experienced human status.
I never experienced equality.
I never experienced freedom.
I never experienced liberty.
I never experienced dignity.
I've never heard that expression
before.
I never knew I had a human status.
Without human status, I was born,
raised, and educated.
I was born with no worth.
I was born with no value.
I was born with embarrassment.
Life-long humiliation
Life-long persecution
Karl Marx was born out of this
persecution.
Life-long poverty
John Rawls was born out of this
poverty.
Life-long untouchability
My father, Mattimalla Titus, was
born out of this untouchability.
He never experienced human status.
He died as an untouchable.
His father, Mattimalla John, was
born out of this untouchability.
He never experienced human status.
He died as an untouchable.
His father, Mattimalla, was born out
of this untouchability.
He never experienced human status.
He died as an untouchable.
His foremothers and their
foremothers
His forefathers and their
forefathers
They never experience human status.
They were born and died as
untouchables.
Humiliation from cradle to death
Persecution from cradle to death
Let us voice our human status till
we die.
Let us not die without a voice for
voiceless humans.
Let us not die without a voice for
homelessness.
Let us not die without a voice for
the voiceless untouchables.
Let us not die without a voice for
voiceless sexual minorities.
Let us not die without a voice for
voice-less yazidies.
Let us not die without a voice for
voiceless anti-corrupted people.
Let us not die without a voice for
voiceless whistleblowers.
Let us not die without a voice for
voiceless cultural critics.
Let us not die without a voice for
voiceless science.
Let us not die without a voice for
voiceless scavengers.
Let us not die without a voice for
voiceless daily wage workers.
Let us not die without a voice for
voiceless devadasis.
Let us not die without a voice for
voiceless tigrayans.
Let us not die without a voice for
voiceless ethnic minorities.
Let us not die without a voice for
the voiceless atheists.
Let us fight for our self-respect.
Let us fight for human dignity.
Let us fight for freedom of
expression.
Let us fight for freedom of
identity.
Let us fight for human equality.
Let us fight for drinking water.
Let us fight for our walking rights.
Let us fight for the right to sit.
Let us fight for learning rights.
Let us fight for the right to wear
white clothes.
Let us fight for marriage rights.
Let
us fight against honour killings.
Let us fight for love.
Let us fight, fight, fight...
Let us speak up for those who don't
have a voice...
Let us fight till we die” Dr.Suryaraju
